General Information: Hedgehogs (African Pygmy) originate from Senegal in western Africa to southern Somalia and Tanzania on the continent's eastern edge.
They are primarily nocturnal animals but are usually okay with occasional playtime during the day as long as they are still given the appropriate amount of time to sleep The average lifespan is 4 - 7 years in captivity. Adult size is approximately 6" long.
Hedgehogs are one of the easiest exotics to care for as long as you keep temperature in mind. They require a temperature of 72 or higher. Colder than 72 can result in the hedgehog hibernating which can lead to death. A simple way to prevent this is by using a standard reptile heat lamp if your house stays cold.
Diet: Our hedgehogs are fed a specialized food we make in store produced by a specific blend of high quality cat foods. We have used this diet for many years and have had great success.
